St. Francis & St. Claire Children’s Village

“My vision for the children and youth in Kenya and Africa is to be given skills which they can use to utilize the available resources to feed themselves and the future generation.

Africa is rich of many resources, but they have not been given the opportunity to use them. And I'm here to work hard to help the children to make use of the available resources to feed themselves and feed the future.”

“I'm a person who believes in what you call independence. And an independent person is a person who lives on what he produces. So I try to teach Children the power of Self-reliance.

So we have been able to produce fish. We produce eggs. We produce bananas, fruits and vegetables. And this is supplementing what we are buying. Due to the rise of prices during these years of COVID and the terrible climate change which has made it impossible for people to produce enough food.”

“You must study. You must be a researcher. You must be a thinker. And we came out with our motto Simple living high thinking.

“Children love sports. They love football. They love volleyball. They love Marathon running. When they are watching sports, they would like to be like those people. So we give them the opportunity to exercise.”

“You must know you are a child of God. God wants you to live this way. You will be happy".”

“As long as one is alive, he must work. So the children here, they are not working for money. They actually work and take care of their house, take care of their classrooms. They also participate in harvesting. They participate in fishing.

It is about work as a preparation for the future, as a imparting of skills.”
